الصف الثالث الابتدائي الفصل 3 قراءة 4 دقائق آخر تحديث

باختصار

«New Adventures» (الفصل 3) من منهج اللغة الإنجليزية للصف الثالث الابتدائي، الترم الأول. الملخص مقسّم لـ: What we learn، Places in town، Youssef's busy day، Double consonants، Egypt's landmarks.

What we learn

  • Places in town and landmarks in Egypt.
  • Prepositions of place.
  • Double consonants and the "ck" sound.
  • Capital letters and punctuation.
  • The past simple tense.

Places in town

house, park, supermarket, library, train station, museum.

  • Where do you buy food? At the supermarket.
  • Where do you read books? At the library.
  • Where do you play with friends? At the park.
  • Where do you live? In a house.

Youssef's busy day

Youssef left his house early in the morning. First, he went to the library to read a book. Then, he and his mom went shopping at the supermarket. They passed the train station and saw a big train. After lunch, they visited the museum. In the afternoon, they played at the park. What a fun and busy day!

Double consonants

If a short word has a short vowel sound and ends with f, l, s or z, we often write two of the same letter.

  • ff: cuff, off, staff
  • ll: bell, pull, tell
  • ss: grass, less, miss
  • zz: buzz, fuzz, jazz

Egypt's landmarks

Cairo Tower, the Pyramids of Giza, the Alexandria Library, the Grand Egyptian Museum, the Nile River. Laila's holiday: Laila visited the Cairo Tower with her family. Next, they explored the Pyramids of Giza and Laila loved the camels. Then they went to Alexandria, where she read fun books at the Alexandria Library. It was the best holiday she ever had.

Sound practice: "ck" = /k/

The letters ck together make one /k/ sound at the end of a word: duck, sock, back, neck, truck, pack, lock.

Capital letters and punctuation

  • Use a capital letter at the beginning of a sentence and for names like Cairo Tower.
  • Use a period (.) at the end of a sentence: We went to the supermarket yesterday.
  • Use a question mark (?) at the end of a question: Where is the nearest hospital?

Prepositions of place

Prepositions tell us where something is: in, on, under, between, in front of, behind, next to.

  • The ball is on the box. The ball is under the box.
  • The ball is in the box. The ball is behind the box.
  • Samy's toy car rolled under the couch. He looked behind the curtain, in front of the TV, and between the two chairs. His sister used a stick to pull it out from under the couch.

Past simple tense

We use the past simple for something that happened.

  • Add -ed to most verbs: play becomes played, walk becomes walked, jump becomes jumped.
  • If the verb ends in e, add -d: live becomes lived, smile becomes smiled, dance becomes danced.
  • Last Monday, Grade Three students went to the zoo by bus. They saw lions, monkeys and elephants. The ticket was 20 pounds.

Remember

  • Short words with a short vowel can end in ff, ll, ss, zz.
  • "ck" makes the sound /k/.
  • Use under, on, in, between, behind to say where things are.
  • Add -ed or -d to talk about the past.
