What we learn

We learn the names of things at home, where things are, and how we help our family. (Parents: ask your child to find the table, the lamp and the cup in your home.)

Things at home

table, chair, bed, window, door, lamp, cup, plate, desk, couch, spoon, mirror, sink.

Where is it?

We use words that tell the place: in, on, under, next to.

• The lamp is on the table.
• The ball is under the table.
• The cup is next to the plate.
• The bed is in the bedroom. Questions: Where is the window? Where is the bed? Answer: It is on the table. / It is in the bedroom.

What do you do at home?

We ask: What do you do at home? We answer: I clean my room. I help my mother cook. I help my father clean the car. More sentences: "My mother cooks dinner." "I read a book at night." "I help my family wash the dishes." We also ask about people: Who washes the dishes? My brother washes the dishes. Who helps you at home? I help my mom cook. Remember: with he, she, my mother, my brother, we add -s: cooks, washes.

• th: mother, father, that, this, the.
• sh: ship, shop, fish, dish, brush. Say the sound slowly: shhh for ship and fish.

Let's write

Write one sentence about your favorite room and draw it. Example: "My favorite room is the bedroom." Write what you and your family do at home. Label three things you use at home every day (window, cup, table).
