What we learn

We learn the names of family members, how to say who someone is, and what we do every day. (Parents: show family photos and ask: Who is this?)

Family words

mother (mom), father (dad), sister, brother, grandmother, grandfather. We ask: Who's this? We answer: This is my mother. / This is my brother. We can add a describing word: "This is my father. He is tall."

My and your

• Use my when something belongs to the person who speaks: This is my sister.
• Use your for the person we speak to: This is your bag. This is your mother.
• When something belongs to a person, we add 's to the name: Ahmed has a car. It's Ahmed's car.

Daily routines

We use the present simple to say what we do every day:

• I wake up at 7:00 am.
• He eats breakfast.
• I brush my teeth.
• I play after school. Words for time: in the morning, at night, after school. Question: What do you do in the morning? Answer: I brush my teeth. / I play. Words: sleep, brush, read, wash, walk. Example story: "My name is Sara. I wake up at seven. Then I eat breakfast in the morning. I brush my teeth and walk to school."

Phonics

• Long o: nose, rose.
• Long u: glue, cube.
• The letters th make a sound: thin, thick, thumb, thunder, math, teeth. Put your tongue between your teeth.

Let's practice

Order the words: "I wake up at seven." "They play after school." Reorder the letters: sero is rose, sone is nose, becu is cube, gelu is glue. Draw and label a family tree.
