What we learn

In this unit we name farm animals, say if they are big or small, count from 6 to 10, and learn the letters Mm, Gg, Oo, and Ff. (Parents: ask your child to show the animal and say "big" or "small".)

Welcome to the farm

Farm animals: cow, duck, horse, chicken.

• Look at the cow! Wow! The cow is big!
• And look at the duck! The duck is small.
• The horse is big, too.
• What about the chicken? The chicken is small.
• I love farm animals!

Big and small are opposites.

• The cow is big. The horse is big.
• The duck is small. The chicken is small. The farm gives us food: milk, cheese, meat, and eggs. For example, the cow gives us milk, cheese, and meat, and the chicken gives us eggs.

Numbers from 6 to 10

Tamer and Sara count animals.

• How many horses can you see? I can see 7 horses!
• Let's count the ducks: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9. There are 9 ducks!
• That's a lot of animals!

We count and say: I can see 6 ducks. I can see 7 birds. I can see 8 pens. I can see 10 stars. We color the right number of objects, match numbers with pictures, and trace the numbers 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10.

The letters

• Mm: moon, milk, mango, mouse, monkey.
• Gg: goat, girl, grapes, guitar, gloves.
• Oo: octopus, ostrich, olive.
• Ff: fan, fox, fork, frog. We trace and write the letters and circle the beginning letter of each picture.

Remember

• Cow and horse are big. Duck and chicken are small.
• The numbers after 5 are 6, 7, 8, 9, 10.
