What we learn

In this unit we name parts of the body, count them, learn the five senses, and learn the letters Rr, Ee, Cc, and Kk. (Parents: touch each body part with your child and say its name.)

Head to toe

Body words: head, eye, ear, nose, mouth, tongue, arms, hand, legs, foot/feet, toes. We use "I have" with a number:

• I have 1 nose.
• I have 1 mouth.
• I have 2 eyes.
• I have 2 ears.
• I have 2 legs.
• I have 2 feet.
• I have 5 toes. We listen, point, count, match, and draw the missing parts of a face.

My 5 senses

Omar and Aly talk about their senses.

• I can see the teacher and the desk. I can see a flower with my eyes.
• I can smell the flower with my nose. It smells nice!
• I can hear the teacher with my ears.
• I can touch the desk with my hands.
• I have an apple. I can taste it with my tongue.

The five senses:

• I can see with my eyes.
• I can hear with my ears.
• I can smell with my nose.
• I can taste with my tongue.
• I can touch with my hands.

The letters

• Rr: rabbit, robot, rocket.
• Ee: egg, elephant, elbow.
• Cc: cat, cake, carrot, cup.
• Kk: key, kitchen, kite, king. We trace and write each letter in uppercase and lowercase forms and name the pictures that start with it.

Remember

• We have 2 eyes, 2 ears, 2 hands, and 2 legs, but only 1 nose and 1 mouth.
• Each sense uses a part of the body.
