Grammar Rules
Can / can't: we use can + infinitive to say what we are able to do (We can remember well when we get enough sleep) and cannot/can't + infinitive for what we are not able to do (I can't answer the question because it is difficult). After can we use the base verb without -s or to: She can swim (not She can swims). Present continuous: used for actions happening now. Form: verb to be (am/is/are) + verb-ing. Examples: I am reading short stories at the moment. He is practicing hard. We're trying to solve the problem. It is used with time words such as now, right now, at the moment and today (not with "were" or past time). Punctuation: use a period (.) at the end of a statement (He plays football.) and a question mark (?) at the end of a question (Have you ever been to Luxor?). Begin sentences, names and "I" with capital letters: How are you feeling today? / I live in Tahrir Street.
Language Skills and Functions
Reading: Different Ways People Learn. Every person learns differently. Visual learners learn by seeing (books, pictures, colorful notes, maps and charts). Auditory learners learn by hearing (music, discussion, repeating out loud). Kinesthetic learners learn by moving and touching (experiments, building models, breaks to move). Understanding your learning style helps you study better and makes learning easier and more enjoyable. Listening: Learning Challenges and Solutions. Not all students have the same learning style. Good learners ask questions and review regularly, taking breaks helps when studying is difficult, and the most successful students try to improve their techniques. Ahmed organizes his notes, avoids distractions and takes short breaks. Reading: Benefits of Learning Together. In groups students share opinions, discuss problems and find solutions. Teamwork develops skills and confidence, teaches cooperation and leadership, helps students become creative thinkers and make new friends. Apps and websites make group learning enjoyable and create powerful learning experiences. Spidergram: a diagram that organizes ideas; the main idea is in the middle and the "legs" show supporting ideas or examples. Story Time, Chapter Two: The Power of Unity. The children meet an invisible bridge with a sign: "Only those with respect, ambition, and courage can cross." Sara says respect means we listen and care for each other, Zain says ambition means we believe in our success, and Omar says courage means we try even when we are scared. Holding hands and encouraging one another, they make the bridge appear step by step. At the end a golden door says: "Determination opens every door. Never give up." After many failed ideas Omar suggests singing together because unity may be the key, and the door opens. Message: unity, kindness, determination and never giving up lead to success. Writing: My Learning Plan. Start with a topic sentence, use describing details, and stick to one topic, for example sitting at the front to see the board, writing 3-5 sentences every day, recording your voice and watching videos.
