What to remember from Units 1, 2 and 3

Unit 1: Life along the Nile and food

• Animals in the Nile: small fish eat water weeds, crocodiles hunt fish, birds and large animals.
• Desert animals: snakes, camels, lizards, owls. Each has an important role.
• Adverbs of frequency (always, usually, often, sometimes, rarely, never) go before the main verb and after the verb "to be".
• Consonant clusters: bl, cr, pl, tr, dr.

Unit 2: My healthy body

• Words: fit, mental health, stressed, lungs, muscles.
• a / an / some / any: an before a vowel sound, some in positive sentences, any in negatives and questions.
• One-syllable words: arm, jump, meet, bread, leaf, feed, pot, flag.

Unit 3: When nature changes

• Extreme weather: storm, heat wave, sandstorm, flood, drought. It can damage houses, roads and farms, and people and animals suffer.
• Irrigation systems brought water to crops in Ancient Egypt.
• Past simple: didn't + base verb; with "to be": was/were.
• Vowel digraphs: leaped, flood, boat.

Reading practice

Extreme weather is much stronger and more dangerous than the usual weather. Examples are heavy storms, heat waves, strong sandstorms, big floods, and long droughts. It is important to learn how to stay safe. It can happen anywhere in the world.

Read each question carefully, look at the key words (was/were, didn't, a/an, some/any), and check the verb form before you choose an answer.

Writing practice

Write a fiction story of 30–40 words about an impossible thing, using a beginning, a problem, a climax, and an ending.
