- Use vocabulary related to identity: background, identity, self-discovery, value, confidence, strength, unique.
- Talk about what makes you different and discuss how to respect personal identity.
- Use the Present Perfect in the active and passive forms.
- Write a descriptive paragraph about how values shape identity.
Reading texts at a glance
- "Who I Am Beyond My Looks": Ahmed (15, from Giza) explains that his identity "isn't about what others see — it's about who I really am inside." His family values hard work and kindness. He feels stressed by social media to change how he acts or dresses, but reminds himself that being real is more important than being popular. Through self-discovery he gains confidence; being unique means being real, not strange.
- Listening: Leila speaks about identity, individuality and growth, and how support from her teachers helped her gain confidence. A second text is about Dr. Magdi Yacoub, whose true purpose in life was to help people with heart problems.
- "The Mirror Moment": On her first day of Grade 9, Nour adjusts her blazer in the mirror and wants to fit in. She loves drawing real faces. For Ms. Hanan's "Identity Map" project she draws portraits, with her own face at the centre, and writes Strong, Creative, Curious. The class claps, and Ms. Hanan tells her that being different is her strength.
- Story Time, "The School Garden Project" (Chapter One: A New Challenge): Zeina, a new student, notices the large, empty, grey concrete playground full of trash. With her honest friend Nancy she imagines planting a garden. She is not sure anyone will listen to a new student, and she knows it will need time, hard work, help and maybe money, but she believes it is worth it because the garden could bring the school together.
- Let's Talk: Hala and Omar talk about respecting personal identity: everyone is different and special; people who face challenges positively show strength; when people feel accepted, their confidence grows.

Target language: Present Perfect active/passive and linking words (and, because, so, also). Target vocabulary: background, popular, self-discovery, unique, value, confident, strong, honesty, honest.
Solved Exercises

Common Mistakes
- Using the simple past form instead of the past participle: has never saw → has never seen.
- Using have with a singular subject: She have just finished → She has just finished.
