This review practices the language and ideas of Units 4, 5 and 6.

Modal verbs (Unit 4)

• must = very important or a rule. mustn't = not allowed. should = advice. shouldn't = not a good idea.
• Examples: We shouldn't throw rubbish on the beach. You should drink plenty of water when you hike. We must protect historical places. You mustn't touch statues in the museum.

Past simple (Unit 5)

• Regular verbs add -ed: visit - visited, enjoy - enjoyed.
• Irregular verbs change: see - saw, go - went.
• Negative: did not (didn't) + base verb: My friend didn't go to the museum.
• Examples: We visited Al Galala City last year. She saw the beautiful gardens.

Vocabulary

• ancient = very old: Ancient Egyptians built pyramids thousands of years ago.
• wrapped = covered something with paper or cloth: My little sister wrapped her gift in shiny paper.
• decorate = make something look nice: Let's decorate the classroom with balloons.
• mountains: We went hiking in the mountains during our trip.
• Travel words: souvenir, pyramid, cable car, travel plan, brochure.

Reading and story elements (Unit 6)

In the story, Noor, Ahmed and Farida go to their teacher's office and explain their plan for a project to help the school use water wisely. The teacher smiles and says it is a wonderful idea. Story elements to identify: beginning, middle, end, moral, characters and setting. The setting is a bright, busy school near Luxor, and the moral is that teamwork and small actions make a big difference.

Writing and projects

• Write two sentences in the past simple about something nice you did last weekend.
• Express your opinion: write about a place in Egypt you visited or want to visit. Use adjectives and the past simple. For example: "I want to visit ... because ..."
• Project: design a mini travel brochure about an Egyptian city, with a picture and at least three sentences.

• natural resources: things found in nature like water, trees and sunlight. recycle: use things again instead of throwing them away. reduce: use less. conserve: save or use something carefully.
• fact: something true that can be proven. opinion: what someone believes or feels.
